Dining Tables

Here's the tables we bought. As it turns out, with the bench it would have been better to have tables with a single base (restaurant style) instead of tables with 4 legs. You tend to hit the leg getting in and out from the bench. But, it works ok. And we couldn't find any restaurant style tables we liked. The middle table is from Circus Furniture. It's a 59"x35" cappuccino colored table. It came with the 4 chairs for $500. The other two small tables were less than $150 for the pair, ordered online from Target. They are 29.5"x29.5, and the color is espresso. The small tables are the exact same style, but just a tiny shade lighter and redder than the larger table.

Laundry Hamper in Kitchen

I have the pull-out trash that originally held recycles and trash. I started using cloth napkins, and try to use washcloths instead of paper towels for a lot of things. So, I put the trash under the kitchen sink and changed one of the pull-outs to a laundry hamper.

Ikea cabinets have adjustable shelves

One of the great things about Ikea cabinets is that you can add extra shelves, and the shelves are adjustable. I was able to put 4 shelves in this cabinet, and keep all my different kinds of plates separated.

It's very easy to add the shelves. There are pre-drilled holes in the cabinet that you put little metal pegs into, and the shelves rest on the pegs.

Stemware Rack

Finally got the stemware rack put up! We have too many wine glasses. There are still several in the cabinet that would not fit on the rack.

See that big green box next to the refrigerator? It is a giant roll of saran wrap we bought at the restaurant supply store. We were so tired of the serrated edge that does not cut, or falls apart on saran wrap boxes. This industrial size roll of saran wrap has a slider mechanism to cut the wrap that works great! And it was a good value.

IKEA Pantry Cabinet

This is the inside of our IKEA tall cabinet. It is a 80" high, 24" wide standard depth cabinet. The top shelf is fixed, but all the shelves below it pull out. The IKEA pull-out shelves are really nice!

Benches for the Dining Room

My dad custom made these benches for the dining room. The lids lift up and there is storage inside! They are stained furniture grade plywood with a couple coats polyurethane. The plan is to buy 3 tables. The tables on the ends will seat 2 people, and the table in the middle will seat 4 people. There will be an aisle between the middle and outer tables.

Cutting the Capita Legs

Here is a good post I found describing how to cut the capita legs to a custom length. They are somewhat adjustable, but my kitchen floor is very uneven, so they didn't adjust enough to get my cabinets level.
